How We Work, and How We're Paid
Health and Beauty Partners works with US personal care brands through one of two doors: a free Readiness Scorecard for brands heading to Europe, or a discovery call for everything else. This page covers the path from first contact to launch, what it costs, how we're paid, and who we don't take on.
How Does Working with Health and Beauty Partners Start?
Pick the door that matches where your brand is headed.
Heading to Europe
Start with the Readiness Scorecard. It's eight questions, takes about two minutes, and shows the gaps between your brand and European shelves.
Everything Else
Leaving a manufacturer, launching a line, needing product leadership, or closing MoCRA gaps? Start with a discovery call.
The Path to Europe: Scorecard, Call, Proposal, Launch
Four steps, and you decide at each one. For the full picture, see EU and UK expansion →
Readiness Scorecard
Free. You answer questions about your sales, formulas, documents, and manufacturing contract. Loren reviews your answers before you talk.
Discovery Call
We walk through your gaps and your goals. You leave knowing whether Europe makes sense now, later, or not at all.
Onboarding Proposal
A written scope with your onboarding fee, the commission, and every way we're paid. Nothing starts until you sign.
Launch
We close your gaps, move your formula to our EU manufacturing partner under a contract you sign directly, and work European distributors on your behalf.
Not heading to Europe? The path is shorter: a discovery call, then a proposal. Leaving your manufacturer → starts with a paid Rescue Diagnostic, and fractional product leadership → is scoped as set hours each week.
What Happens on a Discovery Call?
It's a working conversation with Loren, not a sales pitch. It usually takes about 30 minutes. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so and point you somewhere better.
Before, During, After
- Before: Loren reviews your scorecard answers or the notes from your booking
- During: your products, your current manufacturer, your channels, and where you want to grow
- After: if it's a fit, a written proposal. If not, a straight answer on why
- Helpful to bring: your product list, your manufacturing agreement if you have one, and the markets you're targeting
What Does It Cost?
Every brand starts with different gaps, so we quote after the discovery call, in writing. Here's how our fees are structured.
EU and UK Expansion
An onboarding fee based on your readiness gaps, plus commission tied to your European sales.
Leaving Your Manufacturer
A paid, fixed-fee Rescue Diagnostic first, credited to the next phase if you continue.
Product Leadership
A set weekly commitment, from a few hours a week to a part-time VP, quoted in your proposal.
Formulation
Quoted per project, with part paid at the start and the balance when you sign off on the formula.
Third-party costs: regulatory, ingredient, and lab costs are itemized in your proposal, so you see each one before you agree.
How Is Health and Beauty Partners Paid?
HBP can be paid by manufacturing partners as well as a commission on your international sales. Both will be disclosed in your proposal.
In Writing, Before You Decide
When we recommend a manufacturer and that recommendation pays us, we tell you in writing before you choose.
Your Contract, Your Manufacturer
For European production, you sign your manufacturing contract directly with the manufacturer. We run the project around it.
Paid When You Sell
We earn when you sell in Europe, so our incentives are tied to your growth, not to billable hours.

Working with Us: Common Questions
Why don't you publish prices?
Because every brand starts in a different place. Your onboarding fee depends on the gaps we find, such as missing documents or a formula your manufacturer still holds. We quote in writing after the discovery call, with every fee and commission spelled out.
Do manufacturers pay you?
They can. HBP can be paid by manufacturing partners as well as a commission on your international sales. Both will be disclosed in your proposal, and any recommendation that pays us is disclosed in writing before you decide.
Who do I sign the manufacturing contract with?
For European production, you sign directly with the manufacturer. Your formula ownership is set in that agreement. We manage the project, the formula transfer, and the distributor work around it.
Is European distribution guaranteed?
No. We make introductions through our manufacturing partner's network and our own prospecting, and we work distributors on your behalf. We're paid when you sell, so we're motivated to place you, but no one can promise placement.
What should I have ready before a call?
Your product list, your current manufacturer's name, your manufacturing agreement if you have one, and the markets you're targeting. If you're thinking about Europe, take the Readiness Scorecard first so we can review your answers before we talk.
What happens to my scorecard answers?
Loren reviews them before your call. We use your answers to prepare your gap report and to follow up with you about it.
